Elementz get studio makeover

April 7, 2010

Deep in the heart of the Lace Market, a new creative space has been made over by some of the top artists in Nottingham. No, this isn’t the £80m Contemporary but the Batcave-like studio home of local super-producers The Elementz and their Art:Music jam session.

In their guise of Liati and Zoutr, they have worked extensively with acts like Notts rapper Karizma, as well as remixing the likes of Major Lazer, MIA and Roots Manuva. The hip-hop and jungle vigilantes joined forces with graffiti legend Dilk from Hockley’s Montana paint shop, Bantum Clothing’s Jimmy and Norm from design studio Waste Yourself to create an awesome new mural for their lair.

But this space is far from a secret, and Liati and Zoutr are currently taking a back seat with their production to hire their handmade, cutting edge studio out to a new wave of recruits. On the night of the event, 18 year-old MC Ski-Man dazzled with his powers of rhyme and flow, while young dubstep protégé Saulya laid down some super-wonky bass lines and guitar riffs.

He will be supporting the duo as part of the T’SOTU collective when The Elementz rock the decks for their monthly night Ultra! at Gatecrasher on Saturday 27 March. They’ll also be joined by garage hero Zed Bias for a night of incredible club music.
